The hints are getting more robust, and a new video from NetherRealm Studios gets the rumor mill bubbling. In recent weeks, several well-known industry insiders had predicted that an official reveal of Mortal Kombat 12 would occur as early as May. The brand-new teaser trailer fuels those speculations once again.

In a two minute video, the developers wanted to send a clear message and thank their many fans for all the years of loyalty. At the same time, at the end of the video, they delivered a rather obvious hint at the new part, ‘Mortal Kombat 12,’ whose unveiling seems to be very close.

 

Will the unveiling be later this month?

A rumor is circulating predicting that the unveiling of Mortal Kombat12 will occur as early as this month. The info comes from industry insider Nick Baker, who believes the new fighting title will be unveiled during the next PlayStation Showcase. However, an official announcement of the PlayStation event is still pending. What is certain is that the Showcase is said to introduce the second stage of the PS5 era. However, Insider Jeff Grubb assumes the PlayStation event will occur in May.

The Mortal Kombat 12 release date has already been confirmed

While the excitement around the reveal is building, and we must take the rumors with a grain of salt. We know from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s latest annual report that Mortal Kombat 12 is already in development. The release is set for later this year.

But when is Mortal Kombat 12 coming out? There isn’t an official release date yet; however, if we believe Jez Cordon’s statement, the fighting game should hit the market in September 2023.

 

Which characters will make it into the MK12 roster?

There is not much official information about the new fighting title yet. The developers have neither revealed an official Mortal Combat 12 roster nor information about gameplay and story. So far, we have to rely more on speculation instead.

Some speculations regarding the roster are circulating on the Web, but there are no official confirmations yet. Some time ago, the chief developer of the Mortal Kombat series Ed Boon answered some Q&As, from which, according to this Tweet, the following Mortal Kombat 12 characters are expected. According to this listing, fans can also hope for the reappearance of character favorites like Skarlet.
