The Zelda Saga Continues – The New Title is Called The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Fans listen up: The new title in the Zelda series as well as a release date have finally been announced. But that's not all - Nintendo is giving us some more delicacies.

Link’s adventures continue: After “Breath of the Wild”, the sequel “Tears of the Kingdom” will follow. And other cult classics will also be released for the Nintendo Switch. Get all the info in this article.

The successor was first announced at E3 2019. In the summer of 2021, another gameplay trailer followed as part of the Nintendo Direct Presentation. The first images and gameplay scenes were revealed. But Nintendo held back the announcement of the title as well as the release date until then.

In a live stream event on Tuesday, Nintendo not only announced the name but also the release date of the highly anticipated successor to “Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild”. The game is titled “Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” and will be released on May 12, 2023, according to Nintendo.

Like its predecessor, “The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom” will be released exclusively for Nintendo consoles and will remain a Nintendo Switch exclusive title. The sequel is supposed to be strongly oriented towards the earlier game in content and gameplay. The first clips of the new Zelda title can be seen in the Nintendo Direct, which was just released on 9/13 2022. The clips provide a brief, but very promising glimpse and show Link finally running, jumping, climbing, sliding, and exploring in a large open world again.

In Addition to Zelda, other Cult Classics were Announced for the Nintendo Switch.

In addition to a new Zelda title, more Nintendo classics are also joining the party: Players with a Nintendo Switch Online membership + expansion pack will now really get their money’s worth and will be able to enjoy several N64 retro classics on the Switch very soon. According to Nintendo, Pilotwings 64 and Mario Party 1 and 2 will be released by the end of the year. From 2023, the N64 favorites Goldeneye 007, Excitebike 64 and Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 will follow, as well as 1080 Snowboarding.

Last but not least, the confirmed title Goldeneye 007 should be a source of great joy and relief for many fans as well, because there was speculation about a possible release of the title on the Nintendo Switch for a long time. Clear facts were missing though, which caused a lot of excitement. A real enrichment here is the online mode, which will allow players to play Goldeneye 007 in multiplayer as well. However, a 4K remaster is only planned for Xbox consoles and Xbox Game Pass so far.

We’re looking forward to a couple of cool “new” games. What is your favorite and what do you expect from it? Let us know in the comments.
