The Witcher Remake Seems to Follow W3 Remastered Version

If the first Witcher title was too straightforward for you, this news might make you go back to it at some point.

In this screenshot of the first installment, we are looking at a grass-covered rocky coast slightly from above. The dusk bathes the scene in a warm orange tone. A large lake is depicted in the background and a brown, large wooden house stands in the right background. In the foreground, we see Gerald in the third person in a long shot, standing at a campfire with three other characters.

According to the latest information from the developers at CD Project RED, they are already working on a The Witcher Remake

While many are eagerly awaiting the release of The Witcher 3 Remastered on December 14, 2022, a new announcement that the developers revealed during a presentation is now causing excitement again.

More open world for The Witcher Remake?

While the first The Witcher from 2007 is still very famous, CD Projekt RED now wants to release a remake. This is supposed to bring the adventures of Geralt of Rivia into a more open game world, thus breaking with some linear boundaries. The respective slide of the said presentation can be seen below.

The shown slide from the Q3 investor presentation only displays the logo and some more information bits below it. We can read “open-world RPG” and “story-driven”, which could speak for a remake with some significant changes to the gameplay. A bit more freedom for us players is always welcome! However, it seems that the remake is still in a very early stage, and a release could still be far away.

In the first installment of the series, there were already large environments. Players were able to explore, unlock upgrades and kill beasts. But the story as a whole was relatively linear, according to some gamers. So that might change in the future, and we can enjoy the popular game with a new degree of freedom. Let’s go even further as Geralt into this beautiful universe!

When exactly the Witcher Remake is supposed to get released is not yet clear. But it seems that the release will take place after The Witcher 4, which is also in development. We will keep you posted via this article.
