The franchise provides you with a huge selection of great titles. It’s a real challenge to determine the best Assassin’s Creed game. We have taken on this task and compiled a top-5 ranking for you.
The franchise has brought 12 main games and many spin-offs in 16 years. Of course, there are some excellent installments (and many more are to follow, according to Ubisoft). But which is the best Assassin’s Creed game? A question that should interest newcomers in particular. These five AC’s are the most fun:
5. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag
After the less-than-convincing AC3, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag gave the franchise a significant boost again and brought the series’s richest and largest game world so far. You can embark on highly addictive missions, impressive ship battles, and a glorious soundtrack. Become the most skilled assassin in the Caribbean, Edward Kenway, and feast your eyes on the beautiful sight of whales rising and falling.
The game is available for PS3/PS4/PS5, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It’s also available for PC via Steam or for Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo Store as part of “The Rebel Collection”.
4. Assassin’s Creed Unity
Let’s face it – the game had an incredibly bumpy start. But after the numerous glitches and bugs were fixed, fans could experience a breathtaking journey through beautiful Paris during the French Revolution. Unity’s assassination system is particularly compelling and beautiful, with many new options at your disposal. Exciting guessing games and detective stories round off the gaming experience innovatively.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is available for PS4/PS5 and Xbox One. Grab it for PC via Steam.
3. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Since God of War Ragnarok at the latest, we are all addicted to Norse mythology. A Creed game that picks up on this period is precisely what we need. And it’s genuinely great to sail along the fjords, discover enemy settlements, and plunder them. The setting is reminiscent of AC Odyssey, but the implementation in Valhalla was not as good as in Odyssey. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was the first installment to be released for Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
You can play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on PS4/PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and it is available for PC via Steam.
2. Assassin’s Creed 2
With its sequels, Revelations, and Brotherhood, AC2 described the series’ peak and helped the franchise reach its current true greatness. As a young nobleman, you get caught between the fronts of Templars and Assassins in gorgeous Italian locations during the Renaissance. The title also became famous mainly because it fulfilled many players’ desires from AC1, making it more magnificent. However, one title has beaten Assassin’s Creed 2 as the best Assassin’s Creed game.
The title is available for iOS, PS3, Xbox One, and macOS. Grab a copy for PC via Steam.
1. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
This title is set in ancient Greece when the Order didn’t even exist. Right at the start, you’ll choose between two protagonists – Alexios and Kassandra – and experience the game according to your role. And then, you’ll dive into a vast game world that offers just the right size and variety to make you want to engage with it. High-quality refined side quests, impressive cutscenes, and captivating characters will keep you in suspense. And your battles will be a feast of extensive skills and modifiable/upgradable weapons and armor. Welcome to the best Assassin’s Creed game ever (yet).
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is available for PS4/PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S and you can get it for PC via Steam.
