GeForce RTX 40 GPUs for Your Laptop Announced by NVIDIA

Next-gen gaming and performance-intense workloads will now take place on the road in significantly more places in the world. Thanks to Nvidia.

The graphics giant NVIDIA has officially presented the GeForce RTX 40 series for laptop gaming fun. All important information about the new notebook powerhouses at a glance.

The announcement of the new GeForce RTX 40 family for laptops was made during NVIDIA’s online event at CES 2023. The mobile series is based on the new Ada Lovelace architecture and offers 5th Gen Max-Q technologies, such as the tri-speed memory controllers or the ultra-low voltage GDDR6 memory.

RTX 40 Series for your Laptop

The brand new Nvidia laptop RTX 4090 comes with an AD103 Chip including 9.728 CUDA cores, which is the same amount as the desktop RTX 4080 GPU. Since the RTX 4090 is the successor of the 3080 Ti, it offers almost the same level of compute as the desktop RTX 4070 Ti with 38.9 TFLOPS. However, it is far behind the desktop RTX 4090, which has twice the speed. Nvidia divides the RTX 40 series into the following enthusiast categories:

High-class laptop GPUs
  • RTX 4090
  • RTX 4080
Mid-range laptop GPUs
  • RTX 4070
  • RTX 4060
  • RTX 4050
Here is a screenshot from Witchfire. The game was first announced by NVIDIA today. We find ourselves as a player in the first-person perspective in a very gloomy urban environment during the night. With our left hand, we are executing a blue lightning attack on a red creature standing in front of us, so that it falls to the ground. To the right of us is a circular platform, on which an elongated wooden table stands. At the top left of the image we see a white light source and at the left edge of the image there are blood splatters, which come from an enemy that has just been killed by us. The frame has numerous bright particles flying through the air.

On this chart from NVIDIA, we can see a graph showing the performance increase due to the new Ada Lovelace architecture, which is part of the new RTX 40 series for laptop’s. Several games, like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Portal with RTX, but also popular software like Blender or Arnold Renderer are compared here. The graphics are in front of a black background and take up almost the entire frame.
