It’s a rainy day, and you’re sitting at home. Having recently completed the adventures of It Takes Two, you’re already wondering: What’s next? We’ve made a ranking of Co-op games that are comparable to the popular two-player adventure.

15. Castle Crashers

Games like It Takes Two often have a skillful mix of impressive level design, action, and challenging puzzles. If you prefer action, Castle Crashers as a beat ’em-up clearly focuses on this category but is no less cooperative. With a lot of humor and lovely graphics, you’ll fight your way through different levels together with up to three other friends. A chaotic shredding starts with funny animations and cleverly implemented fights.

The 2D sidescroller Castle Crashers is a fun cooperative beat 'em-up adventure. In this screenshot, four players are currently in a boss fight. We catch a glimpse of the players from the side on the right of the image in a long shot in front of a kind of dark gray volcano, which can be seen in the background in the crop. On the left side of the image is a huge red creature, which consists of a single giant head with yellow eyes and a wide open mouth with pointed counters. In the lower-left corner, a large fist of the creature can be seen. At the top of the image, four-player indicators are shown in a row, consisting of the avatar image, a life bar, a mana bar, as well as a gold indicator. The players all have different childlike appearances and possess different coloring. Two of the players strongly resemble a knight.

14. Trine Series (1-4)

Experience the stories of three epic heroes in four installments of the series: Pontius the Knight, Zoya the Thief, and Amadeus the Wizard. Each of the characters, as in It Takes Two, has special skills that will let you solve various riddles, defeat enemies, and clear your way through the levels as a team. The game also offers you the possibility to easily switch between characters. With Trine Series, you’ll get a concentrated load of Co-op adventures and a worthy candidate for games like It Takes Two for you and your friends.

In this screenshot from Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince, we see the three main characters from behind, as they stand in the center of the image in a huge enchanted library around a writing desk. A large yellow-leafed book is open on the desk, which is illuminated by a bright warm light that falls through a large very historic-looking window front. Otherwise, the hall is quite dark. In the background and around the writing desk we see many green plants with red flowers and there are many writing sheets on the stone floor. The player on the left is a knight with a big sword and a red cape. In the middle stands a wizard in a mint-colored robe and hat of the same color. On the right stands a thief in a white robe and white hood.

13. Overcooked!

Cooking, chaos, Co-op! This game will put your friendship or relationship to the test. In this game from Team 17, you’ll have to prepare numerous meals with up to three other players in a race against time. But is not only the clock your enemy but also the changing work environments, which require additional orientation and coordination. Precise arrangements and teamwork are absolutely necessary for this game, and it will certainly be more chaotic with Co-op in the beginning. But practice makes perfect.

Cook a variety of different meals together in a race against time in Overcooked! In this screenshot, we see in the isometric perspective two trucks on a brown road in an orange desert during the day driving in parallel in the center of the image in a long shot. The roofs of the cars are removed so that we can look inside them and see two kitchens with brown wooden floors and light brown kitchenettes. In both cars there are two players with chef's hats, who are preparing various meals by carrying around vegetables, cutting and cooking them. Cook as fast as you can in one of the most chaotic games like It Takes Two.

The title is available for PS4/PS5, Xbox One, and PC and has a Co-op mode for up to 4-players.

12. KeyWe

This title is going to be beastly cute! You can expect a Co-op puzzle adventure in which you play a pair of Kiwi birds named Debra and Jeff, who are employees of a bizarre post office.
Take control of the two feathered friends with your teammate and run your office by typing letters, sorting mail, sending packages, and much more. As little birds, you’ll complete these tasks by fluttering, pecking, jumping, and hitting bells, levers, and buttons with your rear end. At the end of each shift, a score awaits you. Furthermore, mini-games provide additional fun and variety.

Work together as Kiwis in a post office, as this screenshot illustrates: From a bird's eye view, we look down on a purple, bizarre-looking typewriter-like desk. It is equipped with numerous white round keys, each of which has different letters. On the desk, these keys are attached to various different objects, such as drawers and the like. In the center of the image, we catch sight of a small kiwi in a long shot with black feathers and a gray winter hat, as it walks across the table to a white key. The scene is lit with warm light and the predominant colors are purple and turquoise. Play games like It Takes Two with cute birds.

KeyWe is available for PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC and has a Co-op mode for up to 2-players.

11. Biped

In your search for games like It Takes Two, you should definitely take a look at this title. Here you’ll be able to play with a friend, not with stuffed figures, but with robots that are no less cute. Work together, coordinate and communicate to solve a variety of interestingly designed platform puzzles. Optionally, you can collect coins in the levels to get new hats for your robots. Beep boop!

We see two cute robot characters in this screenshot from Biped from an elevated perspective in a long shot, standing in an icy landscape. It's the middle of the day and the scene appears very light blue. The robots are standing straight on a ledge that leads down to the right. They are holding each other with a white and yellow rope. To their left is a futuristic reflective white and black sphere and behind them, we see shining a torch standing on the ground. In the background, a huge wall of ice rises out of the picture. This game is definitely one of the games like It Takes Two you should try.

The title is available for PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC and has a Co-op mode for up to 2-players.

10. Moving Out

Anyone who has ever been part of a move knows the physical and mental stress that goes along with it. Moving Out deals with exactly this situation but somehow manages to turn this torture into fun. And as with any move helping hands are needed, which per se makes it one of the games like It Takes Two because teamwork and strategic action are more than required in this title. Together with your friends, move the objects and furniture as efficiently as possible to get them out of the apartments. Adventure and fun are guaranteed.

In this screenshot of Moving Out, we look down from the air at two playable characters in a long shot on a busy street in the middle of the day. The two characters, a girl dressed in blue with an orange braid and a player with a red toaster for a head, are carrying a red couch together across the street, trying to slalom past the many colorful cartoon-like cars unharmed. In the foreground on the left side, a green street sign is visible.

Moving Out is available for PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC and has a Co-op mode for up to 4-players.

9. Rayman Legends

The series may not get the attention such as Super Mario Maker 2 or New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, but it’s certainly just an equally adventurous and fun platformer and at least as challenging! The latest installment Rayman Legends in particular, has beautiful 2.5D graphics and very inventive stages combined with absolutely fitting music. The audio-visual interplay reaches its peak at moments when you have to jump over platforms at the right time, matching the music beat. Maximize your gaming fun by mastering the numerous puzzles and bosses together with up to three other players.

Solve exciting puzzles and experience thrilling boss fights in Rayman Legends, one of the games like It Takes Two. Again, you can run through the world with friends, as shown here in this screenshot: A dark lava world can be seen here, which leads deep into the abyss. Four metal chains hang vertically at equal distances from a dark stone ceiling, which is shown in the crop at the top of the image. Between the chains, giant lava balls bounce up and down, all looking the same with a large staring eye. The main character Raymann wears reddish clothing and has a large yellow snout and orange hair. His trademark is mainly that his arms and legs are not visually connected to his torso, but this makes him all the more nimble in kicking and punching. At the bottom center of the picture, he is hanging on a chain and waiting for the right jump to the next one. On the left side above, a female game character with long orange hair and green clothing is jumping to the first chain. To the right of Rayman, a green frog-like player is about to be hit by lava. On the right side of the screen, we catch sight of a blue frog-like creature that made it to the safe platform unharmed.

The title is available for PS3/PS4/PS5, PS Vita, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC and has a Co-op mode for up to 4-players.

8. Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Curtain up for another part of the popular Sackboy series! Unlike previous installments, Sackboy: A Big Adventure is less about creating and crafting and more about a challenging platformer experience with plenty of puzzles and ambushes. It’s certainly good to have a second pair of hands by your side (or even more!). Start your wild ride today and traverse the wonderful and crazy levels together, which are no less fun and cute.

You see the brown textile hero Sackboy with his big cute head diagonally from behind in the lower right center of the picture in the long shot. He is swinging with the help of a grappling hook through a dark blue, gloomy-looking world that consists of various toy-like elements. The world is completely three-dimensional with very pretty graphics, but the game level runs linearly from the lower left front to the upper right back here. Between the player are platforms made up of red and purple colored cushions. Sackboy hangs on a kind of rope, at the end of which there is a hook attached to a kind of yellow sponge roller. Now he has to jump to a second roller with enough momentum to finally get to the other platform. This title can become one of the games like It Takes Two with up to four players.

The game is available for PS4/PS5, and PC and has a Co-op mode for up to 4-players.

7. A Way Out

Before It Takes Two, the developers at Hazelight Studios created A Way Out. Together with a friend, you’ll control the two inmates, Leo and Vincent, to break out of prison. This title is perhaps a bit more serious than their later Co-op game, but at least as cooperative and exciting. So a natural choice if you are looking for games like It Takes Two (Steam link).

In this screenshot, we are in a prison. The image is divided horizontally into two parts, whereby the left part only makes up one-third of the image. In the left part of the image, a player in the third-person can be seen in the bottom left of the image in a long shot. We look down from above at this player in a black leather jacket and brown hair. He stands on a metal scaffolding and looks down at a stone corridor. There we see a guard in a blue uniform sitting behind a large glass panel at a desk in a control room. The scene is dimly lit by neon lights on the ceiling. On the right part of the image, we catch a glimpse of the other playable character in a semi-close-up in half-profile on the left. He has short black hair, prominent sideburns, a beard and wears a blue t-shirt. On the right in the cutaway is another inmate in a black jacket, full beard, and bald head. The two are in conversation and are standing in a hallway. In the background, we see a prison guard in a dark uniform and cap, who is apparently speaking to the two prisoners. To the left of him, we see an open iron door. A Way Out is one of the games like It Takes Two, simply because it comes from the same developer.

The title is available for PS4/PS5, Xbox One, and PC and has a 2-player Co-op mode.

6. Cuphead

This cartoony game from StudioMDHR is a true wolf in sheep’s clothing! As charming as it may look with its iconic drawing style, however, it is mercilessly difficult! If you play it unprepared, it will slay you; if you are prepared, it will still be a tough challenge. In any case, it requires a lot of patience for you and your friend to master the action-packed levels and defeat all the nasty bosses. A single mistake can be fatal and ruin your run. Better bring your friendship into a healthy balance before touching Cuphead.

We look at a screenshot from the game Cuphead. We can see a cartoon-like hand-drawn colorful 2D game world where the two main characters in the role of Cup heads fight against a floating ghost. The battle arena consists of a red poker table where skeletons with different clothing sit, which we glimpse in the background and foreground in the crop. They have cards in their bony hands, smoke cigars and there are poker chips on the table. On the right side of the picture, an opponent is depicted in the form of a colorful stack of chips, scowling and smiling at the players. In the center of the image is a light blue floating ghost, with arms outstretched and the same cup-shaped head as the players. He is performing a powerful attack, so that white lightning bolts radiate from him and run out of the picture. As he does so, he pulls one of the players towards him, who is below him. He has a white head, a black torso, and red shorts. The player on the left looks very similar, except he has a blue round nose and blue shorts. The game characters are much more color-saturated and powerfully drawn, which makes them stand out well against the game world.

Cuphead is available for PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, macOS, and PC and has a 2-player Co-op mode.

5. Snipper Clips

If you want to master challenging puzzles together with your friend or partner, as in games like It Takes Two, you’ll get your money’s worth in this title. Although this game doesn’t offer an emotionally deep story or impressive worlds in 3D, it convinces even more with its innovative game mechanics and the associated concentrated load of comedy and fun. You play as two paper shapes and have to cut each other to fit the required shapes and reach your goal. The game starts out fairly easy, but the difficulty increases quickly. Since the two playable paper shapes include a female and a male character, the game is also very suitable for couples. With huge laughs guaranteed while cutting out!

Play one of the games like It Takes Two with Snipperclips. This game is less epic, but all the more fun. On this cover, the title of the game "Snipperclips" is shown on the left in black capital letters. Below that is the subtitle "Zusammen schneidet man am besten ab" in German text and in capital letters in white behind a red and yellow background. These colors are also found in the same way in the main characters, which we see on the right side in a long shot: On the left is the male Main character and on the right in red is the female. The two characters look at each other smiling, while the female character cuts away a part of the male one. Below the figures, a blue and a red Joy-con are shown being held in their hands. The background is made of checkered college notebook paper and elements like a paintbrush, a ruler, shapes and a pen can also be seen at the edges of the image.

The game is available for Nintendo Switch and has a 2-player co-op.

4. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

This title can actually be called the base game for It Takes Two because, again, Josef Fares, who also directed It Takes Two, took over the lead development. It is a sad yet adventurous story of two brothers. The special thing about this game is that you can also control both sons with only one controller and play solo. In a newer version, however, there is also the possibility of going on an exciting journey together with a friend or your partner in the classic co-op mode.

If you are looking for games like It Takes Two, you will probably like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. Here we can see the cover of the game, with the title "Brothers a Tale of Two Sons" written in white capital letters on the left side. To the right, we can see the two sons side by side from the front in a long shot, looking off into the distance in different directions. Behind them, a misty valley with mountains and fir trees can be seen.

The game is available on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS, Android
and has a 2-player co-op.

3. Unravel Two

This lovingly crafted 2.5D platformer has more in common with It Takes Two than you might first think. In this game, you take control of two cute characters made of yarn. Again, your cooperation is required to a very high degree! Together you’ll run and jump through wonderful yet challenging levels, and you’ll always have to solve puzzles that are often directly related with the help of your yarn. Just like It Takes To, mutual consideration for your partner determines your successful progress in the game, and the story is also designed to be very emotionally charged.

On this cover of the co-op game Unravel Two, we look at the two main characters, who are made entirely of yarn and are currently holding each other on a grassy hill with the help of a yarn thread to avoid falling down. The character on the left is made of red yarn, and the one on the right is made of blue yarn. In the background, you can see the sky with clouds and the sun. It's one of those games like It Takes Two where the two players have to work very hard together to succeed.

The game is available on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC and has a 2-player co-op.

2. Portal 2

The critically acclaimed guessing game got a cooperative mode with part 2, which really has it all. In this game, we move through clinically white rooms in science fiction style and have to solve tricky puzzles with our teleport partner. Grab a friend or solve challenging puzzles together with your partner, which always involve the laws of physics and demand your full cognitive effort. If you are searching for games like It Takes Two, this is another very unique experience.

In this picture, we see the player in the first-person perspective with his teleporter gun standing in a kind of warehouse. In front of him is a large metal framework with a staircase. The floor is partially covered with a snow-like substance and a white, viscous mass is falling from the center of the image into a blue portal placed on the floor in the foreground. The scene is very dark and there is a light mist in the air. Play Portal 2 as one of the games like It Takes Two with a friend.

The game is available for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, and Mac with a 2-player co-op mode.

1. Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

The game, which was originally supposed to be released for the Nintendo Wii U, has now made its successful debut on the Switch, offering you a fun, adventurous co-op spectacle set in the Super Mario universe. Take on the roles of your favorite characters and join forces as you experience lovingly designed levels and defeat numerous bosses together. Bowser’s Fury also offers a successful expansion of the story, which you can also master cooperatively.

The cover of Super Mario 3D Wörld + Bowser's Fury can be seen here. The left side shows numerous colorful game elements, platforms, and enemies from the various levels of the game. In front of this arrangement is the logo along with the game title "Super Mario 3D Wörld" in colorful capital letters. Above it, we see Super Mario together with Luigi, Peach, and Toad. Below the logo, Super Mario is jumping into the air in a cat outfit. On the right side of the image, in contrast to the cheerfully colorful Mario world, a dark, foggy world is depicted, in which a giant, fire-breathing Bowser can be seen. In front of it, we see a much smaller Super Mario looking up at Bowser. Diagonally above the villain's head in the upper left corner we see the logo with the red inscription "Bowser's Fury" in capital letters.
