It’s not long until the Empire strikes back. In Star Wars Jedi Survivor, you can once again plunge into interstellar adventures as Cal Kestis and explore the untamed galaxy this month. According to the developer, the game will be much more extensive than its predecessor Fallen Order.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a third-person single-player adventure that continues the story of the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis five years after the predecessor’s events. The team promises that even newcomers can play and enjoy the sequel without prior knowledge.
The game, which results from a collaboration between Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games, will be released on April 28 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Following the trailers, you will get a great impression of the new Star Wars title.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor’s gameplay will take a big leap forward
What new features can you expect in the sequel? A whole bunch! You can look forward to a much more complex gameplay experience in Star Wars Jedi Survivor. In an interview with WCCFtec, Design Director Jeff Magers and Senior Producer Blair Brown have already revealed that the sequel will be significantly more extensive, and the exploration in space will take considerably more time.
Look forward to some neat new features
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will offer an even more immersive Star Wars adventure with significant improvements and enhancements, the developers promise. The story and the game mechanics have been reworked and provide even more game depth. Galactic gameplay features you can look forward to:
Deeper character customization
In Fallen Order, you could already use customization options like skins for the lightsaber, BD-1, and different ponchos. In Survivor, many more customization options exist, from outfits to his hair and beard. Besides, BD-1 has interchangeable elements, not limited to colors. So, you’ll also be able to customize your lightsaber even more.
Smoother and natural movement
Cal’s movement is now noticeably more responsive and fluid than the predecessor’s. This also affects your fights, allowing you to dodge incoming attacks skillfully. Platforming also feels more organic now, and jumping, hanging, and climbing animations behave and vary according to the situation, which feels very natural.
Improved combat system
In the interview, Jeff Magers states that in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the developers have greatly enhanced the Lightsaber stances and expanded the already-known dual-blade to a full-fledged stance like the other two (single-blade and double-blade).
In addition, the team has implemented the cross guard and blaster stance so that you can now choose between five stances in the game. This gives you completely new tactical possibilities and approaches to combat. In the following, we summarized the five combat stances, including a short description:
Single-blade
The standard allrounder lightsaber stance.
Double-blade
Good saber combat stance to keep larger groups of enemies at bay.
Dual-blade
The ability known from Fallen Order is now an adamant stance meant for high reward but also high risk.
Crossguard
Merciless powerful single-target stance, but also very slow.
Blaster
Great for taking out enemies at a distance and can even be combined with some other lightsaber stances.
The ultimate PS5 gameplay experience
If you’re going to play Star Wars Jedi Survivor on the PlayStation 5, you can expect even more thrilling lightsaber battles. According to O’Dell Harmon Jr. from Sony Interactive Entertainment, the game will have special features for the DualSense wireless controller. With the help of haptic feedback and triggers, you’ll literally feel what enemies you’re fighting or how you’re moving objects with the Force.
